Instrument and Automation Technician
We are currently looking for a skilled Instrument and Automation Technician to help ensure safe, efficient, and stable operations in our production environment. In this role, you will be responsible for both preventive and corrective maintenance within instrumentation and automated systems in low- and medium-voltage facilities.
You will work closely with operators, technicians, and other production personnel to optimize operations and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Your tasks will include troubleshooting control systems, sensors, regulators, and other automation components. You will use technical drawings, manuals, and diagnostic tools to analyze and resolve faults in both hardware and software.
The role also involves configuring, programming, and calibrating instruments and control systems—such as PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems. You will ensure that electrical and automation systems operate reliably and efficiently, while also contributing to the development and optimization of our maintenance programs.
As part of the position, you may also become a member of Stegra’s internal rescue team. Instrument and automation technicians possess valuable skills and will receive specialized training to participate in rescue operations. Previous experience in this area is a plus, but we also welcome those who are willing to undergo training and medical assessments to take on this important responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Interface with operators, technicians and other production personnel to understand and communicate improvements that needs to be done and has been done.
- Install, maintain and repair instrument devices and automation systems
- Read technical diagrams, single line diagrams and blueprints.
- Perform general instrument maintenance
- Troubleshoot instrument issues using appropriate of testing devices.
- Setting up calibration program.
- Configuration of DC and PLC systems
- Field instruments
- Contribute to maintenance program optimization.
- Train others in maintenance specific tasks.
- Evaluation of needed spare parts of the equipment.
- Assure safe conditions with Lock Out, Tag Out, Try Out according routines when having repairs or inspections of equipment.
- Together with the rest of the team, maintain good housekeeping and being a key player to develop and maintain a safe work environment.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Three years electrical gymnasium with focus on industrial automation or equivalent. Previous experience in maintenance or production, minimum 2 years.
- Good technical knowledge about instrumentation, automation, hydraulic and pneumatic.
- Ability to work on feet for shift and carry loads up to 36kg.
- Ability to work in and around electromagnetic fields.
- Knowledge of Swedish and EU safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and with precision.
- Good knowledge of English; Swedish is a plus.
