About us:

Stegra is on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal; water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden - currently in construction phase. But this is just the beginning – our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize other industries in addition to steel, and we look forward to what’s next in store for us.

Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities:


  • Perform preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on our production lines.

  • Collaborate with operators, technicians, and other production personnel to identify and communicate improvements.

  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.

  • Read and update technical documentation as needed.

  • Inspect components to detect wear, vibrations, or inadequate lubrication.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical components.

  • Repair and replace equipment.

  • Contribute to the optimization of maintenance programs and continuous improvement.

  • Train others in specific maintenance tasks.

  • Evaluate the need for spare parts for the equipment.

  • Maintain good housekeeping standards and a safe work environment together with the team.

  • Ensure safe working conditions with Lock Out, Tag Out procedures during repairs and inspections.

Experience & Qualifications:









  • Significant heavy industry experience


  • Experience within the steel production industry is highly sought.


  • Relevant education in mechanics or a similar field.

  • Documented qualifications in workplace environment and safety (e.g OHSA)

  • Knowledge of Swedish and EU safety codes

  • Experience working with and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

  • Ability to operate under limited supervision for non-routine situations.

  • Ability to develop work methods and support the operations supervisor when needed.

  • Advanced knowledge of operational processes and tools.

  • Ability to work independently and accurately

  • Ability to work on rotating shifts

  • Good command of English; Swedish is a plus
