Stegra is an industrial impact company with a strong ambition to reduce CO2 emissions in the most fossil-intensive industries. Mechanic Hot Mill
We are looking for an experienced mechanic for hot mill area to take responsibility for preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on our production lines. In this role, you will collaborate with operators, technicians, and other production personnel to identify and implement improvements. You will work with the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, as well as troubleshooting and replacing equipment as needed. By contributing to the optimization of maintenance programs and ensuring a safe and clean working environment, you will play a key role in supporting an efficient and sustainable production process.
Responsibilities:
• Perform preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on our production lines.
• Collaborate with operators, technicians, and other production staff to identify and communicate improvements.
• Install, maintain, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Read and update technical documentation when needed to ensure accurate information.
• Inspect components for wear, vibrations, or insufficient lubrication.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.
• Repair and replace equipment as needed.
• Actively contribute to the optimization of maintenance programs and continuous improvement.
• Train others on specific maintenance tasks.
• Evaluate the need for spare parts for equipment.
• Maintain good cleaning routines and a safe working environment together with the team.
• Ensure safe working conditions with Lock Out, Tag Out procedures during repairs and inspections.
Experience and Qualifications:
• Significant experience in heavy industry.
• Experience within the steel production industry is highly advantageous.
• Relevant education in mechanics or a similar field.
• Documented qualifications in workplace safety and health (e.g., OHSA).
• Knowledge of Swedish and EU safety standards.
• Experience working with and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to work with limited supervision in non-routine situations.
• Ability to develop work methods and support the operations manager as needed.
• Advanced knowledge of operational processes and tools.
• Ability to work independently and with attention to detail.
• Ability to work shifts.
• Good knowledge of English; Swedish is a plus.
